Trainer/Teacher for the Certificate 1 in Developing Independence The Brotherhood of St. Laurence June 2015 – Jan 2016 The Certificate of Developing Independence is a 3-6 month course based on positive education theory that engages young people in Residential Care to develop life skills and to work toward goals of their choosing. I trained staff and implemented the course with clients. Responsibilities: Training the staff of residential care units, foster homes, and lead tenant programs in the practice framework and processes of the certificate. Assist students (young people in residential and lead tenant care) to explore and articulate their goals and aspirations and to begin working towards achieving these. Oversee the certificate from beginning to completion.
