I led virtual emotional support groups where people got to meet others who were experiencing similar emotional situations and give and receive support. I guided these conversations, helped people to feel comfortable unpacking their struggles one-on-one and in groups, identified at-risk members and referred them to appropriate services, and maintained the safety of these groups. I did this for four years, and my main takeaway from this role is the value of empathizing and forming community with people from all walks of life, from all over the world, and of all ages. Life can be very hard, but we are almost always stronger together. Show less
