Overview

JamCoders Summer Camp is an initiative for high school students, 3rd form to 5th form, focusing on algorithms and programming that will commence in July 2022 at The UWI Mona Campus in Kingston, Jamaica. JamCoders provides free dormitory rooms and meals for all student participants, and we welcome applications from all over Jamaica. This programme is being organised by the Department of Computing (DoC), the Faculty of Science & Technology (FST) at The UWI, Mona, members of the Caribbean Diaspora working at Google and UC Berkeley, and the Reggae Artiste, Chronixx through his CHOR Foundation. The idea to start JamCoders was initially conceived by Jamar McNaughton (Chronixx) and the Chronixx team after reading about the AddisCoder program in Ethiopia, and he then made a generous founding donation to support creation of the program. We thank Chronixx for his vision and generosity. We would also like to acknowledge support from: The Survival and Flourishing Fund, founded by Jaan Tallinn, with JamCoders selected for funding by Prof. Scott Aaronson on behalf of the SFF and The D. E. Shaw Group.
