Yolanda has been working for me as "Project Support Officer" at Nationwide Building Society Project and I've been the DC Delivery Manager from IBM. Yolanda is very professional and thorough in what she does. She is liked by all colleagues and she is the go to person for all the team members especially for Sharepoint and EPM (MS Project Plans within EPM). I have no hesitation in recommending her for similar roles.

I joined Ralph Allen School in September 2020 on a one-year contract, aiming to gain experience with a new exam board (Eduqas / WJEC - I have already worked extensively with other British examination boards through previous full and part-time employment.) So far this year, I have delivered secondary education through years 7-11 across a range of topics as broad as dystopian fiction, modern oral poetry, KS3 novels addressing current global issues (Trash, Running on the Roof of the World) and comprehension / critical analysis of promotional materials for 19th century bogus cures. I am also engaged in extracurricular activities as and when COVID restrictions allow, such as getting my tutor group involved with the school farm. This holistic approach to learning helps students to discover their interests and develop new ones, as well as debunking the harmful myth that school is not relevant to 'real life.' I maintain a small classroom library of books provided by me, which supplements the extensive school library. In 2021 I shall be encouraging students to actively engage with writing contests online, continuing to allow personal development and social involvement via writing through the pandemic. I am seeking employment from September 2021 and would especially welcome news of roles in the West Country.

Tutoring GCSE skills to able students on an educational access scheme - helping level the playing field for students who don't come from backgrounds where they'd traditionally access Russell Group universities. This year, a very English Language-based set of needs - leading to some detailed and interesting work!

I worked in the English department alongside a diverse and changing team, delivering the Edexcel GCSE course for Language and Literature, presenting extra-curricular assemblies, helping run the English afterschool club, and getting the first Maiden Erlegh Reading cohort of Year 11s through their crucial GCSE years. During this critical period, the COVID-19 outbreak disrupted lessons and meant that teaching suddenly had to be delivered remotely. I took responsibility for planning and delivering Year 8's work, jointly writing a whole new scheme of learning, and assisting the Head of KS3 by enabling differentiation, so that students were not left behind or disadvantaged during this unprecedented time. I also collated lesson materials as evidence of attainment for my year 11 group and ensured that all students were adequately represented, so they could get the grades they truly deserved.

    • English Tutor / Assistant Course Director
      • Jul 2016 - Aug 2016

I tutored and acted as an assistant course director on the Oxford Summer Courses. In this capacity, I was responsible for the education and welfare of an international cohort from a number of different countries. In my English tutoring role, I wrote a literature and creative writing syllabus, spanning Chaucer, Dickens and Duffy amongst others. Students compiled a portfolio of creative writing and, in post-course interviews, overwhelmingly voted for me as an excellent tutor.

This was a voluntary position taken on in my spare time. The purpose of the Talking News is to ensure that visually impaired people are able to connect to their local community in a meaningful manner, and understand what is happening locally. News broadcasts, usually taken from the Swindon Advertiser, are added to USB sticks, which are distributed to people who are registered with a visual impairment across Wiltshire. My typical tasks included:• Selecting local news material for radio broadcasting.• Editing material for content and time, for a local visually impaired audience.• Acting as a newsreader for a local entertainment feature, which I compiled myself by approaching local businesses, as well as checking the entertainment pages of the Swindon Evening Advertiser.I concluded my regular employment with the Talking News in December 2014, but remained on the emergency callup list for the paper for some years thereafter. This meant that if a newsreader could not fulfil their usual slot, I could stand in for them.
