My ambition was to establish St Mary’s as a vibrant place of learning, within the whole community. I managed the schools growth and development for almost twenty years. I was deeply committed and determined to ensure that all children would be motivated and inspired to learn, have a curriculum that helped them grow in confidence and skills and achieve to the best of their ability and value their unique qualities. Our aim was INSPIRE, VALUE, LEARN and CELEBRATE TOGETHER, a motto that lasted over twenty years. I was determined to ensure that all pupils would be encouraged, praised and able to learn with curiosity and enjoyment, achieve high standards and above all LOVE LEARNING! I was proud of the whole staff team, a team if dedicated individuals who brought out the best in each other and had lots of fun. I established a strong and effective leadership team and recruited the very best teachers, many of whom have gone on to lead schools and create a legacy for learning. Wonderful people who were able to inspire each other as well as the children and above all, ignite children's interest and desire to learn. I am proud of the changes that took place during my time as Headteacher. I believe we created the very best possible learning environment, well resourced, vibrant and stimulating. We used creative approaches and I focussed on building partnerships with parents and seeking support from the community. I worked tirelessly to obtain additional funds to innovate, and bring about change to support learning. I look back on this as a very special time where I served the profession and the community with energy and enthusiasm. It was a privilege to have this opportunity. Thank you to all who were part of this journey. Show less
