The Ted Rhodes Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization named after my grandfather golf pioneer/legend Ted Rhodes. He was the first black in the modern era to play in a Professional Golf Association (PGA) event which was the US Open in 1948. He won over 150 golf tournaments during his career and was granted posthumous membership into the PGA in 2009. He was a stylish dresser and was known for his attire on the golf course. He is listed #3 best dressed on the GQ "Golf's fashion Masters list. Tiger Woods studied Ted Rhodes game and named him as one of the pioneers that paved the way for him to play golf when he won his first Master's tournament in 1997. There is a golf course that bears his name in hometown of Nashville, TN. The Ted Rhodes Foundation's mission is to preserve and honor the legacy of Ted Rhodes and carry out his vision to allow everyone the chance to play, by advancing future generations of minority golfers. The foundation exposes youth to the game of golf and gives them an avenue to play the game on a competitive level. The foundation hosts youth golf tournaments, adult golf tournaments, and golf clinics in Chicago, Hammond, IN, and Nashville, TN. The foundation donates money to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) schools with golf programs and scholarships to golf team members. Also, we support urban youth golf programs, such as the First Tee. My role entails Fundraising, Event Management, Tournament Strategy, Tournament Management, and Advertising. The Foundation seeks corporate sponsors and individual donors to help fund our programs and pay for expenses related to the events. Also, we need volunteers to help at our golf tournaments and golf clinics. Show less
