Digital Public Contact, led by CC Simon Cole QPM, has been established to provide a simple, well known and reliable digital contact service between the Public and the Police. Our mission is to develop capabilities, services, content and national standards that allow the Public to be informed, reassured and empowered in transacting, interacting and engaging with policing digitally. Digital Public Contact is one of three programmes that make up the NPCC Digital Policing Portfolio, alongside Digital First and Digital Intelligence & Investigation. DPC's primary projects are Single Online Home and Social Media Project, which provides provide a national framework through which policing is enabled to use Social Media as a contact channel in a consistent way. Responsible for developing and implementing MOPAC’s strategy on ‘Active citizenship’ – by devising processes, training and incentives that ‘enable, encourage and inspire’ local communities to play an active part in reducing crime for themselves and in their neighbourhoods. Consulting, I led on EU proposals, including:  Campaigns to counter extremism.  Promoting integration of third-country nationals in EU Member States.  Development of e-learning tools for teachers to improve media literacy in school-aged youth. Against Violent Extremism (AVE) Coordinator

 Project management: US Grants Management Course, financial and project delivery of Kenya, Indonesia and US-based projects.  Stakeholder relations: AVE management in addition to government, tech, academia and grassroots relationships.  Team: managed an internal team of interns and ran a research volunteer programme.  Training: Developed a training programme which has been rolled out to over 1000+ NGOs, national and local government officials globally and delivered these globally from Albania to Djibouti.  Research & analysis: published leading reports on CE and private reports for governments & private sector analysing extremism on/offline. Use of social mapping tools.  Campaign development: recognised expert on counter-narrative campaigns, led a pilot study RE online efficacy. One campaign I assisted on won an Emmy award. Written a number of publications on counter-narratives, produced online toolkit, and developed an app.  Policy: assisted on the Policy Planners’ Network (PPN) on Countering Radicalisation and Polarisation early into my career as a project assistant. PPN is made up of security and integration ministries across Europe and provides a mechanism for streamlining and systematising the sharing of information on policy, practical implementation and best practice. Whilst working on PPN I worked with a Security Ministry to develop a blueprint for counselling programmes for families of foreign fighters and produced a report launched at the APPG on Security and non-Nuclear Proliferation.  Events: organised events including on the margins of the UNGA, New York, delivered to high-level attendees, as per the request of the USG.  Speaking: delivered presentations at small workshops to police/ government, and high-level United Nations events in Geneva, Quebec and Baku.  Media: interviews with Sky News for a special video report, Vancouver Sun and more.  Other: attended former DAC Helen Ball’s Prevent Tragedies for 2 years as an expert.
