Meeting Tamye was catalyst for my career. After I volunteering for TypeCon 2004 and not being able to get into my final design classes, I shamelessly asked Tamye if there were any openings at FontShop. She gave me the opportunity to build a foundational understanding of typography while being able to apply these learnings on my day to day deliverables. Over a decade later, I still use the lessons I’ve from Tamye and the crew she managed at FontShop. With type being at least 50% of a design’s focus, I can honestly say this experience has been instrumental in my occupational growth. Along with giving me the knowledge and opportunity to grow a career in design, one of the most valuable lesson I’ve taken from Tamye was about generosity and patience. I try to always

Tamye's service as Executive Director of SoTA was exceptional— a true example of servant leadership. Tamye served selflessly and energetically while managing the activities of her peers and the volunteers with whom she worked. Tamye is smart, talented, and brings interdisciplinary perspective to everything she does. She blends a skill for collaboration and inspirational vision in her work. Through her leadership, SoTA and TypeCon grew and became an influential force in the typographic field.
