Bruce runs the team that provides the core infrastructure for all of Walmart Labs. I have been his customer for about 2 years. He has built a very impressive high performance team that has set the bar for response time and creative solutions. The platform his team built enabled us to spin up a new data center in a few days. It has been amazing to work with Bruce and team.

Bruce bootstrapped the operations team at Kosmix. He came in with very strong recommendations and indeed did a phenomenal job as a partner to engineering. His sound technical expertise came in handy as Kosmix went about building cutting edge search and categorization technology, from 4 billion index in 2005 to sub 100ms response times for AOL local search. Bruce is also a great human being and I would love to have him working with me again.

This was an interesting experience. I ended up working, in terms of time spent, for the SEC and FINRA. Not fun. The asset class was unregistered with brought all kinds of fun. @WalmartLabs is redefining eCommerce for Walmart. I lead the associates who build and operate the infrastructure for a world-class Internet start-up inside the world’s largest retailer. As an original member of @WalmartLabs we've also helped to bring about a mighty change within Walmart eCommerce, shifting the image and culture to be more like a true Internet company, taking technological risks, breaking new ground, and innovating. @WalmartLabs is redefining eCommerce for Walmart. As the first technical operations hire in for Kosmix, I built the infrastructure for a top 100 site, serving 20M monthly visitors, from the ground up. Kosmix was acquired by Walmart in May 2011, and @WalmartLabs was born. From archival backup strategy, to primary database storage, to front-end load balancers, at NetSuite, I did it all while scaling the infrastructure of the world's leading SaaS platform to run a business. At Responsys I drove significant savings through the consolidation of multiple data centers and the complete production migration from Windows to Linux. I also built the infrastructure to accommodate over 1 billion emails per month. The education in accounting was great. I got to work on the HP/Agilent spinoff, but the career was not for me. Leaving public accounting and going into technology was the right move, hands down. This aspect of my background brings a business acumen that most technologists have to learn later on, but never do well. The education in accounting was great.
