      As a fellow at Teach for India, I taught 48 mindblowing 3rd and 4th-grade students for 2 years at a government school in India. By working at the grassroots level, my understanding of the reality of the Indian Public education system grew deeper. The fact that 90% of my 3rd-grade students were unable to read a 3 letter word and could not identify simple shapes said a lot about the kind of education they were receiving until that point. Some among the various efforts I put in to deliver quality education to my students were: -Integration of STEM education in a curriculum to build 21st-century skills such as collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and communication in my students. -A school-wide TED-Ed club that ended with students sharing their 'ideas worth spreading' in a TED-style talk. - Setting up a parents association to ensure that the parents are invested as well as well informed about their children and their future prospects. -Developed and implemented a progressive curriculum that was deeply integrated with value education. The children learned about big topics such as gender stereotypes, poaching of elephant tusks and many such social issues. -Facilitated in helping students develop their leadership skills by forming committees to solve real-life problems in our school. - Integrated Arts with education. The students put up a play on 'saving our rivers' in an art even called Dramebaaz and won the 3rd place. -On identifying that each student learns at his/her own pace, I consciously and consistently differentiated my lessons in class, this was a turning point in getting my students to be invested in class and in their education.       Being the Head of Media and Publicity team of Daksh OCTA, the 8th annual techno-management fest of SASTRA University, opened doors to many new learning opportunities as this was my first hand experience as a leader of a group of 20 passionate team members. My 1 year as the head of the team was one of the most challenging, yet a very successful and enjoyable year. We came up with many creative ideas to publicize the fest, both online and offline, to gather as much attention from the crowd not only from our college but also from colleges all over India, we also had a few international participants who took part in our online events. For the first time the fest had a participant count of more than 20,000 people and this was achieved because the team was able to push themselves to do better every day under my guidance.
