The anticipated outcome of this project is the development of a miniaturized spectroscopic sensor that analyzes the chemical composition of combustion-generated ultrafine particles, which both reflects the particle sources and determines their toxic potential. The machine-learning algorithms will enable the deconvolution of the complex spectra and identification of the PM source from the EEM analysis. The broader applications of the technology are environmental and regulatory monitoring, personal exposure assessment for the consumer market, and epidemiological studies. Show less

I worked as a researcher on the Offshore Wind Team, where my main focus was gathering information about the market for Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels in Europe. The goal of my work is to compile a detailed report that will help Manson Construction Co. better understand how they can effectively participate in floating offshore wind installation projects. In addition, I also support Estimating Engineers by assisting them in analyzing and preparing bids for future marine construction and dredging projects that Manson Construction Co. plans to undertake. Using ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager's Building Emissions Calculator, I was able to calculate 21 Acres' green house gas emissions and predict the impacts of changes in efficiency and energy. An article documenting the results of this research was written and is to be published. Used advanced computer systems to model air leakage in buildings. Assisted staff with writing technical reports and drawing reviews. Studied building and fire code and incorporated this knowledge in a research project about geothermal heat pumps. Used advanced computer systems to model air leakage in buildings. Materials Lab I use the FTIR machine to detect the different substances within a material. I helped with an experiment investigating the force of a horse crop on a surface. Used SolidWorks to model various set ups according to the lab manager's directions. Materials Lab I use the FTIR machine to detect the different substances within a material.
