Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Immunology at the University of Saskatchewan. My thesis research focused on identifying biomarkers of vaccine-induced immune responses in porcine immune cells using kinome analysis. To study the vaccine unresponsive phenotype, we used whole blood isolations, kinome array analysis, cytokine ELISAs, fluorescent magnetic immunoassays, and real-time-qPCR. Computational analyses included pathway and network analyses, data transformations, and data visualization in R.Other work during this time included the statistical (comparative and regression analyses) and computational analysis of kinome responses in cattle to stress and bacterial infections.

Lead semi-weekly tours of Canada’s only synchrotron to large groups of people with different educational and cultural backgrounds while communicating basic concepts of theory, function, and uses of the synchrotron. As well, this role allowed me to participate in various outreach events targeted towards K-12 education and public engagement through interactive demonstrations and explanations. • May 2017 - Apr 2018

Project student (4mo.) and honours student (8mo.) under the supervision of Dr. Adelaine LeungIn the Leung Lab, we investigated the protein-protein interaction between Glycogen Synthase Kinase 3 beta (GSK3b) and Disrupted in Schizophrenia 1 (DISC1) to further understand these proteins roles in neural signaling. This project used various DNA sub-cloning, large-scale protein expression and purification experiments, and bacterial culturing approaches.
