  Starting Point is a local Reading based project that mentors young people aged 15 - 25 into education, employment and training. The Mentoring Lead delivers a unique mentoring programme that recruits, trains and equips volunteers to mentor young people into education, employment or training. Our Traffic Light mentoring programme has three stages - RED stage which supports those who are currently NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), AMBER stage supports those who have recently moved into EET (Education, Employment or Training) and GREEN provides on demand advice and mentoring for those have successfully sustained EET. The relational and holistic approach of Starting Point’s one to one support has caused our programme to experience rapid growth. The support focuses on both the practical support (e.g. CV writing, job applications and interview prep) and social-emotional support (e.g. growing in confidence, self-belief and personal presentation).
