    • Mechanisms Lead

MACH is a student design team that competes annually at the AIAA Design-Build-Fly competition. Each year, MACH designs and builds a remote-controlled aircraft from scratch to meet all the necessary competition requirements. The mechanisms subteam is responsible for designing, prototyping, and testing all of the custom-made mechanical components on the aircraft that are unique to the competition requirements. As the mechanisms lead, I am responsible for leading the subteam and making sure we are on task and on time, as well as integrating and cooperating with other subteams. We develop CAD based models with NX on the Teamcenter environment. On top of that we spend time in the shop prototyping and manufacturing components - as well as testing. Show less

    • Controls Manager - Airship Project
      • Sep 2019 - Dec 2019

As a controls manager, I was in charge of the subsystems involving programming and remote controls for our airship. Our team consisted of 5 members, each managing a different subsystem. We completed multiple design-build-fly cycles and learned from our failures. We came in 3rd place overall in a competition among all 12 teams in terms of speed and maneuverability. After developing the airship, we scaled the design to the planetary conditions of Venus. Engineering Academy is a 4-year course at West Bloomfield High School. After 3 years of technical training in the classroom, involving hands-on projects using industry standard tools such as CAD, 3D printers, and machinery, the fourth year is spent undergoing an internship at a local organization. As part of my internship at Lawrence Technological University, I worked under and learned from Professor James Kerns of the Robotics Engineering Department. We worked in a group of 4 students to complete projects. Projects we accomplished include a line following autonomous car, programming an industrial robotic arm, and using a manual lathe followed by programming a CNC mill to bring our designs to life out of wood and metal. Skills I have gained from this internship include using leadership to work as a team and accomplish a project, transforming lessons into successful projects, using failure and setbacks to improve upon the project, soldering electronic components together, basic programming for Arduino with sensors and electronic motor, using G-Code to program a CNC mill, and using x,y,z coordinates to program an industrial robotic arm.
