MACH Design Build Fly

Overview

MACH is a student project team at the University of Michigan focused on providing our members industry like engineering experience in a collaborative environment. We design and construct mid-sized remote controlled aircraft annually for the AIAA Design Build Fly competition. This competition tasks teams with designing aircraft to meet certain criteria to simulate an industry circumstance. Past competitions have included aircraft such as "Aircraft Carrier Operation Craft", “Distributed Manufacturing Aircraft”, “Backcountry Bush Plane”, "Tube Launched UAV", and “Small Passenger Aircraft”. Our members learn in a how to design and build engineering systems in a collaborative team environment. They get industry standard experience on the design process and industry standard software such as Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and ANSYS. MACH also provides plentiful opportunities for leadership experience through sub-team leads and management positions to give our members unique experience that sets them apart when they enter an industry after graduation.
