Ayscoughfee Hall Museum is a Grade I fifteenth century building and I was responsible for its operation and strategic development. My duties included collections management (including the registrar function), building maintenance, staff and volunteer management, budget control and fund raising (I obtained £50,000 in grants while manager), policy creation (acquisitions, volunteers, education and environmental monitoring) and effective working with external suppliers and professional colleagues. As the first person to do this job, I was responsible for developing a collection reflecting the diverse products of Welsh industry from 1936 to date. I researched possible acquisitions and acquired them, and I also arranged for their documentation, conservation and storage. Moreover, I was a key member of the project team that developed a large exhibition on the subject of flight, and also a curator on the team that designed the content for the £30 million National Waterfront Museum in Swansea.
