REME Museum

Overview

The REME Museum is an award-winning museum based in Lyneham, Chippenham, Wiltshire. We tell the story of the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) from its formation in 1942 until the present day. The role of the REME is to maintain, repair and manufacture equipment to keep the Army’s battle-winning aircraft, vehicles and weapons in good working order. The museum collection on permanent display includes an extensive weapons display, an historic repair and recovery vehicle collection, as well as uniforms, medals, tools and test equipment used by REME tradesmen. We host a number of events and temporary exhibitions throughout the year, with something for everyone to enjoy. Our facilities include Crown's Cafe, an adventure playpark, The REME Shop and a conference room available for venue hire. The documentary, pictorial and technical archives are accessible to the public on request.
