Planning and Tendering Engineer
-
Apr 2013 - Sep 2019
I currently support the Operations Managers and Field Service business by preparing tenders and prices against customer enquiries for the modernisation, overhaul, repair and maintenance of turbine, generators and associated plant. I provide all of the man hours, costs in the tooling, welfare packages and subcontractors for the Field Service department section of the tendering documents which is sent to Bid Management for submission to the customer. I plan and price mainly for Siemens LTP contracts using a variety of programming tools and procedures, but also I can plan the Parsons units. For the LTP contracts a lot of the information I need will be supplied from Germany. We will then plan and price the contract either using MS Word for the plan and our TPA for the price, or using the Siemops system. I am also involved in the support of the outages in the back office field service support roll. This involves me participating in all of pre outage meetings with the customer to establish the work scope required, and support the Project Manager with any technical support with regards to the scope . I will lease with other subcontractors and arrange for any brought in products / machining / man power necessary, to support Siemens and the customer to carry out and complete the outages. This includes machining specialists, hire companies for plant and tools from external companies, to specialist tools and man power from Siemens AG. It also involves me being on site to help and support the Site Manager and Supervisors during the outage. I also help to coordinate the delivery of site cabins, man power and tools etc. along site the Site Manager, TFA or Site Services during site set up and demobilisation. As part of my position I also carry out tooling improvements . The requests listed are taken from various suggestions from observations and ideas from site personnel, HSE etc. I am also involved with PUWER assessments for the tooling containers.

Technical Administration Supervisor
-
May 2009 - Apr 2013
I was responsible for the supervision of the technical administration team, and ensuring the smooth running of the Field Service back office. I also provided support and assistance to the Field Service Support Manager, the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine and Siemens Steam Turbine Parsons departments. I held the position of Technical Administration Supervisor for over three years, and managed two permanent members of the Technical Administration team. During my time in this roll I completed and NVQ level 3 in ‘Lean BIT’ (Business Improvement Techniques), and am now one of the fully trained Lean Co-ordinators for Siemens Energy Fossil Newcastle. One of my achievements in this role had been to upgrade and rolled out the new ‘enhanced Field Report Writer’ to all of the Field Service engineers and to hold to one training sessions with the engineers who have requested it. I was also part of the team that upgraded the drawing control system for the Parsons machines. I tracked all of the outages though ‘event calendar’ to ensure that all of the required paper work was created and sent by the technical admin team to site, on time for the outage. In addition I would also assist my team members, if needed, to make sure it is delivered on time. I was responsible for creating all of the test and inspection record sheets using AutoCAD and Word for the engineers on site. I also supported sites in their requests to resolve technical queries from site before, during and after the outages.
