Conducted experimental research using nanomaterials for photon down-conversion (improving the stability of quantum dot nanomaterials under extreme light/temperature conditions) and conductive ink (improving the conductivity between copper nanomaterials through surface modification). Based on part of this research independently wrote and submitting SBIR grant applications and obtained LOI from potential commercial partner. As part of a four person team, worked on cutting edge research related to QLEDs, including novel synthesis and life-time testing. Interfaced with upstream (academic) partners and downstream (commercial) partners as part of a $1M six-month R&D program. Trained and managed technicians in quantum dot preparation and sample testing. Researched the growth of photocatalytic heterostructures and the measurement of their photocatalytic activity for solar-fuel applications. Discovered conditions under which these substrates can work at unity efficiency for proton reduction using visible light. Developed the first synthetic method for the photochemical growth of oxides on CdSe@CdS substrates, which normally undergo oxidative photocorrosion. Improved upon photochemical deposition protocols for the growth of gold and platinum, and developed a new procedure for the co-deposition of these metals, which resulted in significant increases in photocatalytic activity.
