  Alongside my team, I'm helping develop a therapeutic device for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) to present at the 2021 International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition. This device will employ engineered probiotic bacteria to selectively target AIEC strains of bacteria, which are found to be implicated in the pathogenesis of IBD.   I oversee a subcommittee of volunteers involved in the production of resource guides, which are infographic-style posters highlighting the issues that Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals face on the front of education, accessibility, and more. As coordinator, I supervise members, distribute tasks, and overlook the research and writing process. My other responsibilities include inviting guest speakers and organizing McMaster Hearing Society-hosted events, which aim to raise awareness and advocate for the Deaf/hard-of-hearing community.
