Boomsma Shipping is a family shipping company that was founded in 1967 in the city of Sneek in Friesland, northern region of the Netherlands. Boomsma Shipping is active in the management and development of eleven modern multi-purpose vessels that carry packaged/dry freight products and project cargoes. The core business of the company is the short-sea shipping.In the first part of this internship I was part of the Crew Department. I got familiar with the international regulation regarding seafarers on board merchant vessels and was arranging crew changes. In the second part of this internship I was part of the Technical/ISM Department. I worked on the implementation of the vessels' certificates in the Marad software program (Marasoft) and got familiar with the quality and technical management of the fleet.
