  I have been an artist for the student publication WORD Magazine since Spring 2017, and became one of two co-art directors for my last two quarters, winter and spring. As an art directors, we together decide the theme and color palette of the upcoming issue, assign artists to stories and layouts, design layouts, layout the entire magazine, design the table of contents and other pages, and make the final edits to the design of the magazine. This requires organizational and communication skills to direct the art team, and the use of Adobe InDesign.   I began this two-quarter internship in January on a team of students interns assigned the task of preparing a manuscript for publication. We spent the winter proof reading and editing the book, and in Spring we will work on type setting and cover design. This is as an extremely rewarding internship where I have had the opportunity to do real work, utilize both writing and design skills, and work directly with the co-directors of the company Eileen Joy and Vincent W.J. van Gerven Oei. I designed the cover for "There's No Such Thing as the 'Economy' " and also worked in a group to design the cover for "Nothing in MoMA."

Catalyst Literary Arts Magazine

  This is a submission based magazine run by students on the UCSB campus. Every quarter, the magazine receives art and writing submissions from the student population, selects them, pairs them together, and designs layouts to create the magazine. I have had many art and writing pieces featured in the magazine. I have also been a part of the class that goes along with the magazine where you learn the skills that go into making a magazine through projects (InDesign, creative writing) and help design layouts for the magazine.
