Overview

The Department of Recreation Marketing Team employs over 40 UCSB students whose interests and skills vary between graphic design, photography and videography, social media, copywriting, website development, sponsor relations, and administration. The Marketing Team brainstorms and executes strategic marketing plans for UCSB-based and local Isla Vista clients, often with the goal of promoting both the client’s business and UCSB Department of Recreation's programs. Ongoing projects for the Marketing Team include the promotion of intramural sports, sport clubs, adventure programs, GauchoRec classes, aquatics, and more. Many special events and alternative weekend night activities hosted by various UCSB organizations are often aided by the designs and promotional efforts of the Department of Recreation Marketing Team. “The UCSB Department of Recreation Marketing Team impresses us all on a continual basis with their level of professionalism, creativity, and absolutely outstanding productions,” says Rod Tucknott, Director of UCSB Adventure Programs. “The team functions like a full-fledged marketing firm, all from the energy of talented students whose first priority is earning a degree at UCSB.”
