As a professional educator, I am fortunate to live in a region where I can continually learn from Indigenous ways of knowing and ways of teaching. I provide a range of services to community development organizations in the Northwest of B.C. Services include curriculum research, course design, education programming support, production of promotional materials, and implementing learner tracking systems. I also possess excellent proof-reading skills; I can assist in adapting documentation to meet plain language protocols for a low literacy audiences, and have experience writing reports to satisfy government and private funding requirements. I am familiar with a range of learner assessment tools and provide study skills workshops, group instruction and individual tutoring for adults and youth, with a specialist focus on English and math upgrading, and Essential Skills for trades. I have a strong background in pre-employment programming and facilitate personal growth and employment readiness workshops. I also offer second language and cognitive development activities for elementary grades.

I worked as curriculum developer and Essential Skills practitioner on an innovative program for Indigenous adults aiming at a career change to skilled trades and apprenticeships. This new program teamed Essential Skills with industry certifications and employment readiness training. I enjoyed the challenge of creating a new curriculum and was delighted that 14 participants in both the Fall 2015 and Winter 2016 cohorts successfully completed the program. I had a wonderful ten weeks in Prince Rupert followed by a completely different - but equally wonderful - ten weeks in Hazelton. I give thanks to the Tsimshian and Gitxsan peoples for allowing me the opportunity to experience living and working in their traditional territories.
