One of the most switched-on database developers I've met. Advanced SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, T-SQL and can always come up with concepts, methodologies and solutions that others hadn't even considered. Great to work with.

Light n’ Easy have 6 data centres spread over Australia. Giving each factory continue operation should connectivity be lost. Each data centre has 3 Always On Availability Group (AG) clusters plus Replication Distributor and Factory servers. • I initially performed a companywide health check. This identified several inconsistencies and non-conforming to MS best practice. Issues where identified and fixed. • Setup performance monitoring using PRTG for both servers and applications. • Performance tuning such as Index’s and TSQL code. • Mentor and support developers. • Day to day trouble shooting. • Development work using TSQL and SSIS • It was identified that all the data centres where using aging host & SAN technology and would not be able deliver the expected business growth. A project was created to move to an on-premises / Cloud model. With the cloud servers acting as primary and on-premises servers as secondary / backup servers should the connection to the cloud be lost. o Take part in project planning meetings o Implemented an on-premises / Cloud model o Migrate 1 data centre to an on-premises / Cloud model this included 3 AG Clusters and 2 standalone servers, at the same time we upgraded the SQL Server from 2017 to 2019 giving us the ability to use TDE encryption. o Implement TDE encryption on all databases. o Initial trouble connection issues, which turned out to be very small due to testing performed prior to going live. o Setting up of replication to the factory servers. • Due to the success of the cloud project I repeated the on-premises / cloud model on 4 other data centres, leaving one data centre to go through the process at a later date due to business and technical challenges.

ACHIEVEMENTS • Working as part of a team to develop new fact and dimension tables to enable the accounts and auditing departments to perform In-depth analysis of transactional data from the new betting engine. This was a very complex piece of work due to the business rules, which applied over the four brands (Ladbrokes, Neds, Bookmaker & Betstar). ACHIEVEMENTS • Rhapsody Project o Qualified Rhapsody developer o Part of the implementation team for Rhapsody and Data Lake project. o As part of the team, I worked on the initial design and testing of the Rhapsody engine to take multiple message formats such as HL7 from JCAPS, SQL, SOAP and RESTful APIs. These messages were routed to the Data Lake and medical equipment and software using HL7 messaging. During the implementation of ieMR we routed messages between ieMR and medical machines such as blood pressure monitors and JCAPS, to enable paperless hospital. o The project was achieved using multiple routes and smart connectors to allow for data sources to be unavailable without affecting other routes • Performed a quick hand over from incumbent DBA to provide DBA cover at Queensland Health Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital. • Provided DBA support to a large mission critical environment covering SQL HADRON, SQL clusters. SharePoint & SSRS environments. • Replaced SQL Server maintenance plans with Hallengren scripts that cover most maintenance requirements including backups, Index’s, data consistency checks. • Contributed to SQL Server standards and best practice documentation. • Performed an audit of SQL Server licensing. • Enhanced Solarwinds monitoring of MS SQL Server. • Implemented daily checks for all SQL servers. • Member of the project team for the McKessons implementation • Part of the Data Lake project working closely with the data lake manager to ensure schema designs meet business requirements.

First Rate Ltd provides online marketing consultancy to the New Zealand market with a view of expanding into Australia sometime in 2004. There main commercial advantage is a web enabled metrics-gathering tool that collects referrer, impression and action information from client’s online customers. This information is then displayed in a Marketing friendly format. The system (Mediatracker) was originally written using Microsoft SQL server with an ASP front end. This was proving very slow in delivering the complex reports. I redesigned Mediatracker using Microsoft SQL server and Microsoft OLAP with a middle tier solution using MDX and VB to provide the ASP front end. Mediatracker currently handles over 200 transactions per second with sufficient capacity to handle over 2000 transactions per second. During the re design stage I was responsible for the specification and purchase of the new servers (Win 2003) and the appointment of the hosting company. The added capacity and response rate of Mediatracker has enabled First Rate to gain several high profile clients including Air New Zealand, Netcheck and Sorted to name a couple.

The transformation element of the project has been designed using DTS and Stored Procedures on a SQL 2K platform.

I have been on full time contract with Chep NZ since September 2002. I was initially contracted to re-develop their freight management system written in VB and SQL. I updated the VB code to use Stored Procedures Once completed I was kept on to design a new data warehouse to bring together several disjointed systems including Finance and Freight movement from there ERP system (PCMS) to allow the management greater visibility of the valuable data that was previously unavailable. This project is ongoing with further development of reports and inclusion of other system into the data warehouse. The tools used for the data warehouse project include DTS, Stored Procedures, and Triggers. During this contract I have also developed several smaller web enabled applications using ASP and SQL one of which enables the customer service team to enter and track sales prospects against actuals drawn from the ERP system.

Olapworks provided data warehouse technology to the medium to large companies with the New Zealand market place. It was decided that Swisswin ltd would close its office in New Zealand and concentrate on the German market place. This has resulted in my position being made redundant. I was responsible for the overall technical advancement of the companies products, man management of the of 2 development staff on a day-to-day bases. Project management of internal and external client projects. On a daily bases I would be in direct contact with the customer giving both project updates and dealing with any business issues arising from the installation of the software. I actively promoted the complete SDLC process into Swisswin to ensure that the clients projects where completed to specification and to project plan.

 During my time with Marconi I had several positions all involving promotions, I was originally hired to design CM tools using Microsoft Access but soon progressed to designing company wide systems utilising the company Intranet and SQL Server. While in the position I was responsible for rolling out several major web based systems across the company including:  Time Management system – SQL Server with a web front-end time and project costing system. Used by 4 divisions of Marconi totalling over 5,000 users.  CMM process assessment system – SQL Server with a Web and MS Access front-end used to assess the CMM level of divisions within Marconi.  Fagan process system – SQL Server with a web front-end system used to collect metrics while using the “Fagan Defect Free Process” I was twice awarded with an ACAS award as a result of the systems I developed saving the company significant money. Being a defence company processes where paramount in the development of software. I worked both to company standards and implements and worked to project specific standards. All systems where developed using the Fagan Defect Free Development process, which inspects all aspects of the development, program from Requirements though to test. In addition to the Fagan all software was subjected to pier review.
