KCM is Zambia’s second largest copper producer with current annual production of 400 000 tons. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Vedanta Group, a FTSE listed conglomerate with a market capitalization of $50 billion as of 7 May 2014. My role during my 6-week internship was to work on a project that was aimed at investigating and improving the electrolytic leaching process at the KCM tank houses. At the end of my program I presented a 20-page report on my findings. On the recommendation of my report, the efficiency of the leaching process was improved by the addition of metal bar on the cathode railings in 2012
