The duties of first bartender included the day-to-day operations of Barentz Pub, maintaining and improving social media accounts, influencing and motivating the team, as well as planning and promoting weekly and special events. My partner and I started Taken North Podcast as a way to learn more about the small Arctic town of Longyearbyen, establish understanding and closeness with the local community, and encourage small business and peoples with ideas to know their neighbours. The project was pursued in our spare time and we achieved 16 episodes, this allowed me to find balance with my time management skills. My responsibilities were to approach and maintain guest relations, conduct the main interview, edit and produce each episode, and present written content for our different platforms. The goal is to expand and to gradually add visual content and eventually start our own media company, which now leaves us to push us to market our brand on social media and locally in the region. During the time with Taken North Podcast, we established a relationship with local businesses and collaborated several times with Artica Svalbard, a foundation whose goal is to enable thinking, discussions, and projects in global thought and life in the Arctic. Barentz Pub allowed me to experiment as bartender, I was given an ability to be creative, crafting a unique cocktail menu, expanding spirits variety, and introducing craft infused liquors to our guests. Our events took place once a month, allowing our guests an escape from the arctic cold. My responsibility ranged from social media tasks, organisation and ordering of stock, and promotions with the local University student representative. As Bar Manager at Huset Restaurant, I enjoyed the responsibilities of service for weekly dinner services in the bistro, and the bar services during the weekend. My duties allowed me to create change within the cafe and the nightclub, such as, specific duties for staff, designing the nightclub atmosphere with a modern mood. I had the ability to grow within fine dining services, a key which pushed me into a more professional role. I maximized stock to create a new cocktail list, enjoying weekly events and ideas, and improving my service skills with guests in the most efficient way possible. Show less

While I was with Heartland Hotel I worked as the sole bar staff in the pub and barista for the hotel restaurant. My duties included ordering stock, running weekly events, helping with dinner service with the restaurant, and giving superb service to the locals and their families. I introduced a shooter and cocktail menu, using promotional tactics, to produce recurring customers. My time at Heartland Hotel was cut short due to Visa restrictions.
