Julia "Jules" Balén

Based on our experience as a participant in Julie Chen’s Microaggressions workshop offered through Asian American Justice Innovation Lab (AAJIL), a colleague and I asked Julie if she might be willing to develop a couple of workshops for the faculty serving in our Equity Advocates Program—one on structural racism and another on interrupting bias. She invited another colleague of hers, Ginelle Wolfe, to partner with her on developing, presenting materials, and facilitating both workshops. Their choice of materials and presentations were excellent, well-chosen for the group, and inspired deep discussion of the challenges we face in creating a more equitable environment. We will be making use of their materials for years to come. I highly recommend them both!
