This was a part-time job I had alongside my law degree. I was part of the reception team that organized floor plans and ensured the smooth operation of general hospitality duties. When greeting customers, I often was required to switch languages, either French or Cantonese, as many of our guests were new to London, and we wanted to provide a welcoming restaurant experience. As a waitress, I completed waitress training and was successfully able to manage sections of my own in the restaurant, responding to customer needs, allergies, and other general requests. Throughout my time here, both my Cantonese and Mandarin improved greatly, a feat of which I am most proud. Other skills, such as time-management, interpersonal skills, and communication have been strengthened. I also learned valuable lessons in working as part of such a dynamic team and learned important service industry skills. Din Tai Fung is a lively and contemporary company, and I look back on my time working here with fond memories. Show less

As Programmes Controller, I was in charge of all the weekly radio shows broadcast, management of the show schedule, and regulation of our quality content. I also implemented a producer training, which consisted of station sound, planning shows, marketing, editing, broadcasting equipment, and most importantly, producing from different studios. Additionally, I created larger broadcasts over the year, such as mental heath & nightlife collaboration, Black History Month Episodes, and coverage of the 2019 General Election, alongside the news team. The nature of it being student radio meant that it was a 24/7 job alongside my uni degree, and despite the areas of high stress, I loved it nonetheless! Show less

    • Radio Presenter
      • Sep 2016 - Jun 2020

Over the past 4 years, I have hosted a variety of shows, from evening pre-event music to lunchtime chat shows to debate panel shows. I also regularly presented and hosted discussion programs for the News and Music Teams. I also wrote a radio drama called 'Mixed Signals' in my second year at the station. My latest show (and my proudest) was a program called 'What Would Jay and Jess Do?' where myself and my cohost discussed issues affecting POC, including topics such as white privilege, fashion, mental health and representation in film. For all of my shows, I have always done my own promotion, post-production editing and marketing. Show less

As Head of Volunteers, I was responsible for recruiting appropriate volunteers for the student-run festival. Leading up to the festival, I needed to coordinate interviews with the candidates, source materials needed for some activities (such as face paint, glitter, decorations, etc.), and organise shift rotation. On the day itself, volunteers reported to me for their duties and I helped to oversee the extra activities that the festival provided.
