  Kaman Composites designs and manufactures composite structures for big name corporations in the commercial aerospace and aerospace defense industries as well as customers in the medical fields. I am working in the Continuous Improvement department, responsible for examining under-performing parts and figuring out how to decrease manufacturing time leading to increased profit. Using lean six sigma as the driving force for improvement, I am combining hands-on learning, communication with operators, and the use of value stream maps to understand entire processes of specific parts to diagnose areas in need of improvement. Once identified, I can design new tools and fixtures to aid in the assembly process, new molds to tidy-up carbon fiber finishes or tolerances, and even optimize certain operations or floor plans to promote efficiency.
