I'm pursing a new opportunity and at the same time giving a significant change to my life; in fact, I moved back to my home city. Today, LMP is a manufacturing company that mainly develops thermic and electromagnetic actuators. It is based in Italy (3 production sites), Bulgaria, USA and China. Principal Engineer

I worked for ABB's Medium Voltage Products business unit; this unit provides utility, industrial and commercial customers with safe, reliable and smart technologies for the distribution of electricity. In particular, I’m involved in the development of the embedded electronic devices for medium voltage apparatus, such as: circuit breakers, reclosers, contactors and switches. I’ve managed several R&D projects that involved international team of experts from the different ABB design centers located in Italy, Argentina, China, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, India, Poland, Switzerland, and the USA. As part of ABB training program, I’ve completed all the classes to become a professional project manager. I’ve headed the entire group of HW, SW engineers, by providing technical and management guidance, handling resources conflicts, supporting discussions with stakeholders, hiring key people to match the skills needed, selecting critical suppliers to support the development of the different projects and the manufacturing of the final products. I was the main contributor in the definition of hardware and software architectures of the electronic systems to control the next generation of medium voltage apparatus. This includes selection of critical electronic components. I developed new concepts to improve reliability and safety of medium voltage apparatus electronics. I’m one of the major sponsor of Functional Safety and IEC 61508-1 normative in ABB’s medium voltage. I’m author of different patent applications. I was responsible for the space and microelectronic businesses and I directed the team involved in these sectors. I've been involved in the drawing up of several tenders; most of them have been awarded with a contract. I’ve been directly involved in the design of several electronic devices including digital and analogues parts. In the field of the microelectronic, I’ve designed complex VHDL blocks that I’ve implemented using FPGA technologies from Altera, Microsemi and Xilinx. Space Innovation Limited was a space products company, based in Newbury (UK), specialized in design and manufacturing of inexpensive satellite subsystems and turnkey mini- and micro-satellites. In 1998 it was acquired by SpaceDev Inc with headquarter in San Diego. If I had been in England, after SIL shutdown, I probably would have joined Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd as many other SIL’s employees. I started as senior design engineer and I’ve been quickly promoted as principal engineer. Also few months before leaving, I’ve nominated head of the data handling team. I’ve designed the following boards used in the data handling unit of micro-satellites: communication board, mass memory board, switch-over unit. The data handling unit is the main device that concentrates the data interchanged with the other satellites units and payloads, receives and transmits this data from and to ground. These boards use space qualified components and include FPGAs, which I’ve developed using VHDL. The end users of these space products were the European Space Agency and the Cooperative Research Centre for Satellite Systems (Australia). Show less

Techno System Developments is specialized in the design and manufacturing of on board and ground electronic equipment for aero-space applications. TSD is a key partner of the major European players in space research: European Space Agency, ASI, CIRA, Thales Alenia Space, OHB System AG, OHB CGS, Finmeccanica, etc. I’ve designed some boards and FPGA that were part of payloads for microgravity experiments that have flown onboard of sounding rockets and spacecrafts: CPU board, video processing and resizing board, a wavelet compression unit.
