My role: I founded the platform in 2016 and drove the growth of the brand from 0 to 20,000 active community members online and over 1000 offline. I managed operations, content marketing, and community management and convened online and offline community events. The org: The African Writers is a literary organization for emerging African Writers carrying out a wide variety of offline and online projects initiated by me like our quarterly review, our online blog of writing resources, opportunities curation, hosting writing competitions in partnership with brands and convening writing events. We also run an internship and volunteering program to develop emerging writers though real life tasks. In addition to this, we offer publicity services to writers, literary brands, events and other organizations interested in our demographic. We have also been involved in some timely collaborations with brands from to deliver campaigns relevant to writers and the literary space in general. Brands we have worked with include Anakle for Sterling Bank’s Sterling At Ake Movement, Sunlight Nigeria Soap for their Shero Campaign for writers, Lagos International Poetry Festival, Abuja Arts And Books Festival among others. Notable writers we have supported include Oyinkan Braithwaite, Tolu A Akinyemi and Tomi Adesina among others. Awards we have won include Connect Nigeria’s Top 100 emerging SME’s and also Top 20 Most Oustanding Platforms in the Nigeria Literary Space. Show less

As the content marketer, I regularly convene online events and create content on multiple social media platforms like Youtube, Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook and Email to connect young Africans with education and career opportunities so as to democratize access to quality education and academic opportunities. Some of these events were in partnership with the British High Commission Abuja, and Scholars Collab UK. I grew the Youtube Channel to 5,000 Subscribers and Tik Tok to 10,600 followers. Managed volunteers, team members, partnerships and relationships with speakers, collaborators, external staff and vendors. 1. African Writers Meet 2017: a successful writers meet themed “Turning Your Writing Into An Enterprise” which featured revered writers like Tunde Leye, Elsie Godwin, Olumide Holloway and Adedoyin Jaiyesimi. It featured 700 writers and partners include the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social development among others. 2. African Writers Meet 2018: Convened the second edition of the African Writers Meet. The 2018 edition was themed “Getting Noticed In A World Of Noise” and it featured writers like Oyinkan Braithwaite, Tomi Adesina, Wayne Samuel, Ella Forte & Digital Strategist Tutu Adetumbi.
