Brent A Garland „I am highly supportive and confident in Cornell's ability to become the next City Councilman for the City of Hilliard. He is diligent, hard working and honest. These traits are needed in local government. Please support Cornell in his pursuit of representing the fine community of Hilliard, Ohio.

"Maintaining a tradition of excellence."The Franklin County Engineer's Office is responsible for constructing and maintaining 275 miles of county roadway including 356 bridges and 185 culverts. We continually make improvements to our infrastructure of roads and bridges to meet the changing transportation needs of the county. The County Engineer is assisted by 175 engineering, maintenance, and administrative personnel in carrying out the duties of the office. Departments include Construction, Bridge Design, Highway Design, Highway Maintenance, Surveying, and Traffic Engineering. The county engineer's office utilizes the latest technologies for surveying, tax map maintenance, and land record keeping. Our use of the Global Positioning System (GPS) to create a network of survey monuments enables surveyors to perform accurate surveys of properties, corporate and township boundaries, and road rights-of-way. It is also the foundation for the development of our comprehensive county road map and atlas that are available to the public. The maps are free, and the atlases are sold for $1.00 to cover the cost of printing. The county engineer's office works closely with all of the municipalities and townships of Franklin County, as well as with state and regional agencies. The cooperative effort provides for the smooth coordination of projects, improvements, and maintenance activities. For example, during the winter months our crews remove snow and ice on nearly 800 lane miles of roadway throughout the county and provide salt to 23 communities. We often work as partners with other public entities to ensure that road improvements are made efficiently and effectively. The county engineer's office is funded through a portion of the Ohio vehicle registration fee, part of the permissive motor vehicle license tax, and a small percentage of the gasoline tax. We also receive grants from the state and federal government for specific projects that are eligible for those funds.
