Brett has an ability to conceptualize and manage high-impact and complex human capital initiatives. I knew Brett for over 5 years at a large and pivotal moment of NYC schools' talent pipeline and retention investment. He was analytical, relatable, and you could count on him for everything from the in-the-weeds tasks to the 30,000 ft ones.
Niki Stanley, SHRM-SCP
I first hired Brett as a temporary consultant because he was detail oriented, smart and could get things done. Best decision ever, so much so we offered him a full-time role and he grew to be an invaluable asset to the work of supporting teacher staffing of 6K teachers for the largest public school district in the country. His strengths include priority setting, achieving goals, working with large sets of data, resiliency, and leading his teams via trust and empathy. Brett’s skills are easily transferable and he is an asset to any team he is a part of! Write Brett a recommendation: https://www.linkedin.com/recs/give?senderId=brettkunsch

Over the last 3+ years, I have had the privilege of working alongside Brett. In many ways Brett has been a colleague and a mentor to me in my time with NYC DOE. As a colleague, Brett is a thoughtful collaborator. He is comfortable with ambiguity and managing through change while staying true to the mission of the work -- promoting equity by supporting hard to staff schools. For example, we've both been involved in planning many large scale events for schools across NYC to connect with potential teacher candidates. As the data analyst on these projects, I would support the group with reports on invitation, registration, and attendance rates. And Brett would be the strategist in the group who would tie the data back to current initiatives that guide the work of our office. It is this attitude of keeping the strategy top of mind where I've seen Brett being able to pivot in response to moving targets. Beyond being an awesome colleague, Brett has been a mentor to me. He is generous with his time and is always willing to make time to understand any developing situation. I've witness first hand his curiosity and commitment when it comes to cross team work. And I would often ask Brett for his advice on something or what is his take on a situation.

Our team leads executive recruitment for social impact organizations across the United States. Clients include youth-serving non-profits, charter management organizations, foundations, and school districts. About our org and why we exist (and why I wake up every day excited to get to work!) 💫 People are what matter most in almost every field — especially in social impact organizations. Yet default practices reinforce existing structures, costing organizations the genius and diversity they need. Edgility does more than run executive searches — we help organizations bring practice and structure into alignment with values. 💫 We look at the data, ask the tough questions and—when we need to—disrupt the status quo. We’ve learned that real change can’t come from relying on the same systems and “best practices” that got us here in the first place. Our clients want to live up to their values, but it’s not always easy to know where to start. They need a trusted guide to get there. We walk them through an equity-driven process focused on finding, hiring and retaining exceptional leaders, developing transparent compensation programs, and building inclusive environments where employees thrive. This is the new standard. And we challenge everyone to meet us here. Show less
