As a research assistent, I got to work with Eftychia Stamkou, Assistant Professor in the Social Psychology department, and her team, on two exciting research projects. The first was a collaborative project with Google Arts & Culture, where they examined how artworks make us feel. For this project, An interactive map was built of the emotions evoked by a total of 1500 visual art works. I helped with analyzing an enriching the database with socio-historical information about each artwork, such as the artist's cultural background, geographic location, gender, etc. The second project was in collaboration with NEMO Science Museum, Amsterdam. In this project, with a team, we ran a three week research study to examine how children react to visual art (animated films) and how art affects their social skills. The study included both physiological measures as well as prosocial behavior assessment. This project included assisting with both the set up and the execution of the study. Furthermore, we managed to get a total of 478 children to participate in the study. Show less
