Austin is always looking for ways to make things better, from re-engineering existing technology solutions to developing new tools, systems, and processes to improve the services we provided to the organization. He directed several major initiatives at Mount Vernon, not the least of which was designing the network architecture for the new Upper School building. Austin implemented new software platforms to improve capabilities and efficiencies within the technology department, and also developed some small software solutions for internal use. Austin is a learner. During his tenure at Mount Vernon Austin took the initiative to learn the necessary skills to do all the above - network design and management, system and database administration, software development, and more. Lastly, Austin is very detail-oriented and does an excellent job documenting his work. You can depend on the work he does to be thorough, complete, well-documented, and functional.

      - Solely oversaw all aspects of the network, server, and systems infrastructure. - Planned, deployed, and maintained the wired and wireless network for both campuses, which includes routing, firewall, core distribution, server infrastructure, access switching, and wireless connectivity. - Engineered a completely redundant network by load-balancing each campus, and its equipment, with the other, thus allowing for instant failover during an outage and prevented end-user downtime. - Implemented a company-wide domain using Active Directory, which was used for mass-device management, Single Sign-On, web hosting, follow-me printing, and external platform synchronization, which allowed end-user experience to increase exponentially. - Established a centralized Single Sign-On system that allowed students and employees to authenticate to platforms and systems using one set of credentials. - Created and deployed a real-time network monitoring system using Grafana visualization and custom PowerShell scripts that allowed the team to know about issues before being reported. - Developed and maintained all documentation about the network and system infrastructure.
