Overview
Check out the video of our new Upper Campus building at bit.ly/mv-upper-school-building. We are a school of inquiry, innovation, and impact. Grounded in Christian values, we prepare all students to be college-ready, globally competitive, and engaged citizen leaders. The curriculum of Mount Vernon is heavily influenced by the principles of Design Thinking and accomplished by the concepts of Project Based Learning. By focusing on solving people-centered problems, Mount Vernon's students are gaining real-world skills today. By putting the user first and starting with empathy, Mount Vernon students are acquiring a deeper and richer understanding of the world around them. By working with companies and non-profits such as Delta, Porsche, Chick-fil-a, Magic Wheelchair Project, City of Sandy Springs, and the Center for Civil and Human Rights, Mount Vernon Students are getting out of the classroom and making real change. During the past five years, the school has transformed to become a leader of innovation as evidenced by: -The emergence of brand identity in Atlanta, throughout the United States, and internationally; -Development of the Mount Vernon Continuum; -Renovation of flexible learning spaces designed to be student-centric; -Influence of the Mount Vernon Institute for Innovation; -Growth in inquiries, applications, and enrollment. Leaning into the future, we see three essential questions guiding our future work: How might we make school more reflective of real life? How might we empower all learners to be seekers and explorers? How might we inspire one another, and the larger world, through the work we undertake together? The Mount Vernon School was founded in 1972 and is located in the heart of Sandy Spring, GA within the metro-Atlanta area. The School serves 957 students (Preschool-Grade 12) across two campuses.
