I am currently working with Vision 21, originally for my teaching placement, but have since been kept on as cover staff as well. Vision 21 is an organisation focused on teaching and supporting adults with special needs. Part of my role is assuming responsibility for the class; from planning and delivering lessons, to strategizing and managing class behaviour, while taking into account and being sensitive of the learners' complex and special needs. Subjects which are covered in the classes range from fitness and money management, to cooking and social skills. The curriculum regularly changes and varies due to high student retention. Recently I have been designing, implementing and delivering a unit on 'food safety'. This unit has been well received and seeing much progression with the students' confidence and culinary skills.

While attending Cardiff University, I worked part time in Aberdare Hall's catering department waitressing for functions and serving resident's dinners. Customer service and liaising between management and fellow staff were major parts of my role: co-ordinating shift patterns and rotas became part of my role after the first few months, which progressed on to liaising with management on behalf of my colleagues shortly after. Due to the high turnover of staff and myself being familiar and experienced, I became responsible for training the new student staff.

This was a position I was head hunted for by Dr Celeste Yuen. In this position I was working closely with Dr Yuen on both research papers and academic conference presentations and manners of dissemination. This position required self-motivation and critical thinking, as working and researching independently also played a major part. My role involved working in depth with both primary and secondary research data, often involving transcription and data coding and analysis. Having previously attended Uxbridge College, being the former student governor and gaining the highest grades in the business school, I was asked back as voluntary support staff. This progressed to being asked to cover classes teaching, with little notice on some occasions. My responsibilities varied from co-ordinating admin for various classes and tutors, updating and adjusting schemes of work in the curriculum, supporting students with understanding and comprehension of the assignments and the subject, to teaching and working with ESOL learners.
