I have had the pleasure of working as a community partner with Lucas Malo for the past ten years in numerous initiatives and projects. He is always forthcoming, professional and extremely dedicated to finding the most effective and innovative approaches to ensure improved student engagement and positive outcomes both individually and in the aggregate. Lucas possesses the requisite leadership skills and knowledge sought in today’s educational leaders – the ability to understand and take a strong command of any problem as well as the ability to determine the appropriate resources and/or strategies to lead others through the problem-solving process. Lucas collaborates with colleagues and builds strong reciprocal relationships with community partners. Lucas works from a lens of inclusion and fairness that both informs and listens. He is a caring and supportive colleague, guiding others always to be proactive.

Served as the inaugural Director of Community Engagement to advance the mission of spreading the power of optimism to help kids heal from trauma. In this role, I am fueled by building a pipeline of active engagement for over 16,000 Childcare Professionals (Playmakers) around the U.S. I developed and oversaw leadership programs, created and implemented a vibrant social media engagement strategy, and uplifted the Playmaker voice throughout the Playmaker movement. I coordinated advanced training, social events, and instituted a Captain's Leadership Program, a Mentor Program, a Community Engaged Funding program, and an annual conference which help to ensure our childcare professionals have the resources they need to thrive, embody our mission, and are a part of a lifelong peer-to-peer support and learning community. Through use of Salesforce and other technology platforms I measured impact and coordinated opportunities and budget accordingly. The role provided me the opportunity to develop strong relationships, advocate for others, collaborate with an amazing team, build and enhance an alumni network, and be strategic on a regular basis. I embody the values of our partner, The Life is Good Company and embody our Superpowers of Gratitude, Authenticity, Humor, Fun, Creativity, Courage, Openness, Simplicity, Love and Compassion.
