Leviathan is the University of Edinburgh’s official, student-run politics and international relations journal. Founded in 2010, Leviathan is a publication of the University of Edinburgh and the University of Edinburgh's Political Union. The journal incorporates articles written by students and staff of the University, policymakers, and prominent thinkers. Regional editors make up the core of the editorial staff and are responsible for first-round edits. As the first point of contact for contributors, they are expected to provide suggestions on the content and rewrite the submitted material. Their responsibilities include recruiting contributors and acting as brand ambassadors for the journal. The input of regional editors is valuable in deciding the strategic direction and policies of Leviathan. Strong writing ability, an interest in the selected region, and an unbiased approach to editorial integrity are required as well.
