Overview

Zowd is a reading initiative that aims to facilitate a coming together of people living in the United Arab Emirates as a community that revolves around reading. Zowd’s key themes are community and reading for pleasure, and we try to reflect this at every stage of our activities. In addition to our online platform, Zowd will be hosting a number of physical activities that will range from encouraging the setting up and facilitation of book clubs, author talks, reading and writing workshops and many more surprises! Our physical activities can be divided into two subgroups; Zowd-initiated activities and activities in partnership with other organisations. Zowd-initiated activities are those that are set up and run by Zowd staff members such as the Zowd Book Swap or Friends of Zowd. Activities in partnership with other organisations consist of Zowd coming into an agreement with an organisation on reading/writing/book-related activities and making shared use of both groups’ resources.
