Overview

The growing prevalence of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) among the young population of India, lack of awareness around the prevention and treatment of such NCDs has been brought to our attention and through our work, we have identified a need for early behavioural intervention in the youth which would help in delaying this process of acquiring an NCD or even completely prevent it. The key drivers of NCDs in children are unhealthy diet, obesity, physical inactivity, alcohol and tobacco use. Three in every four adolescents are not getting enough exercise and 42 million children are considered obese worldwide. These contribute to increases in the prevalence of type 2 diabetes in youth, high blood pressure and cholesterol. Join Young India Network for Good Health as an individual or organization: Young India Network is an initiative of Nada India Young India Network is a youth (14-30 years) driven network for the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and its risk factors, formed with a vision of having a meaningful involvement of youth and People Living With NCDs in the advocacy of health agenda in India with a primary focus on alcohol and drug use as major risk factors for both communicable and NCDs.
