Yangtze Repertory Theatre celebrates and inspires artists who are global citizens through producing work that evokes conversations cross cultures. Founded in 1992 by Maryknoll Sister Joanna Chan, Yangtze Rep has been a welcoming home for artists whose work is not readily seen in the U.S. and supported them to launch their professional careers in NYC. Rooted in NYC, we see the world through a CONTEMPORARY Chinese perspective and produce work that has IMMEDIACY. By bringing a unique voice to the cultural dialogues in NYC, we enrich the experience of the community we serve. We position ourselves as the nexus of ideas from East and West, and strive to bridge the cultural gap between Chinese and American artists and organizations through partnerships and collaboration. We attract culturally-minded audiences. Our productions have always been performed in multi-languages with subtitles to guarantee their accessibility.
