Worksmart Fire Door Inspection

Overview

Fire doors are an essential line of defence in a fire and can be the difference between life and death. When a fire occurs, they prevent smoke and fire from spreading, protect escape routes and allow occupants to escape. WORKSMART FIRE DOOR INSPECTIONS are committed to improving fire safety throughout Scotland and beyond and are proud supporters of the FIRE DOOR INSPECTION SCHEME (FDIS) - Europe’s first fire door inspection scheme. The FDIS was launched in 2012 as a joint venture between the BWF-Certifire Scheme and the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) and aims to transform people's knowledge about how and why fire doors work and the potential dangers of getting it wrong. Although fire safety awareness is improving all the time amongst building owners, 'responsible persons' and the wider public, the evidence shows us that fire doors still remain a significant area of neglect with improper installation, insufficient maintenance and damage leading to poor fire safety with potentially fatal consequences. There is also the risk of prosecution for non-compliance with the standards, leading to substantial fines or even imprisonment for owners or 'responsible persons' – and fire doors are one of the most common areas of non-compliance. Worksmart Fire Door Inspections are ideally placed to support you in maintaining not only compliance with the law, but, more importantly, protecting the safety of the people using your building. With an extensive reach throughout Scotland, offices in Edinburgh and Kilmarnock and active projects from Aberdeen to Ayr we have a track record of delivering first class service all over the country. Our aim is to be the first choice for fire door inspection services in Scotland!
