Overview

Harnessing expertise from organisational, forensic, and clinical arms of psychology, we have developed a unique group-based programme. We combine experiential learning and peer debriefing to unpack key risk factors and psychological concepts in a collaborative and safe space. Research suggests a greater focus on group-based organisational initiatives is key in reducing stigma surrounding mental health and wellbeing issues, and improving peer and managerial relationships. Adopting this innovative approach to staff wellbeing and psychological health normalises and enhances ongoing self-care. It also builds stronger peer connections, which has significant tangible benefits to the individual, organisation, and wider work culture - by reducing the overall burden of adverse psychological outcomes. Spotlight on family law As presented at ANZAPPL 2022, we are actively engaging practising lawyers and those in the legal profession to participate in our tailor-made legal programme. This programme emerges from our collective experience in family law, and the growing cross-disciplinary evidence highlighting the need for tailored, proactive psychological support services within the legal field. Workplace Conversations considers the recent – and increasing – attention drawn to the responsibility of employers to safeguard against psychological harm as an important opportunity for organisations to take proactive steps in a new direction. In doing so, we strive to mitigate known risk factors for lawyers, reduce stigma associated with help seeking and psychological services, and instigate systemic cultural change within the profession. We are passionate about protecting, promoting, and sustaining the psychological health and wellbeing of legal professionals. We aim to embed group-based psychological intervention within legal organisations to change the way the legal profession collectively views, and supports, wellbeing in the workplace.
