Woburn Abbey first opened to the public in 1955 and has welcomed visitors from all over the globe ever since. The 22 rooms that visitors can explore, house one of the most significant private art collections in the world. Visitors will also discover 18th Century French and English furniture, magnificent silver and gold collections, a range of porcelain and many privately collected items treasured by generations of the Russell family. Set within 3,000 acres of Deer Park, home to nine free roaming species of deer, The Abbey’s captivating rooms and fascinating antiques show a personal side to a public family that has been instrumental in many significant periods of English history. Visitors can also explore 28 acres of Humphry Repton inspired gardens. Developed by our dedicated Gardens team, the award winning Woburn Abbey Gardens offer visitors, everything from flower beds bursting with colour around neat, green lawns through to ponds and woodland areas that help to preserve local biodiversity. Highlights include the bog garden, designed in the 21st century to make use of a boggy patch and historic features, such as the romantic Doric Temple and Wyattville Seat.
