Overview
Founded in 1894, the Wildlife & Nature Protection Society (WNPS) focuses on the conservation of wildlife, forests, marine eco-systems as well as endangered species and is one of Sri Lanka's most recognised conservation organisations with over 3000 members. The WNPS is the third oldest Non-governmental Organization of its kind in the World and was responsible for the setting up of Sri Lanka's famous Wilpattu & Yala National Parks, and for the formation of the Department of Wildlife Conservation.
