Wild Orchard Regenerative Teas

Overview

The Wild Orchard Tea Farm is located on Jeju Island, South Korea, where the soil is slightly acidic and rich in minerals from the volcanic rocks, making it ideal for cultivation. While copious rainfall keeps the tea plants well-watered, the permeable volcanic soil allows for proper drainage. Constant circulating winds keep pests at bay, and the farm’s inland location allows for a mild sea breeze that provides a beneficial moderate salinity to the tea plants. Grown from organic seeds planted in the 1990’s in our then-uncultivated farmland with mainly grass and weeds to become a lush, sprawling 1,000 acre tea field which stands as the largest tea farm in all of South Korea to date. Our tea trees were grown by planting actual seeds on our Jeju farm rather than transplanted trees, resulting in much deeper roots. Deeper roots means better absorption of nutrients and water, producing stronger, healthier trees. Our tea trees were intentionally raised wild among naturally occurring grass and weeds during its' first decade in order to build their resilience by acclimating them to a totally natural environment. We earned both the USDA Organic Certification and the Canadian CanTEST certification after being tested for 268 chemicals. Unlike all other teas, ours undergo a thorough multi-step washing process upon harvest in order to remove all dirt and ultra-fine particulates—a growing problem throughout Asia impacting the quality of teas. Every year, particularly in the spring, East Asia experiences a meteorological phenomenon called “Yellow Dust,” most of which originates in China. With the rapid industrialization of China since the turn of the 21st century, this has known to become a serious health issue due to the industrial pollutants in the dust. Wild Orchard proudly presents the cleanest, most conscientiously grown regenerative organic green teas available.
