Overview
Mission: Whaley Children's Center provides tools to children and families who have experienced trauma to reach their full potential. Vision Statement: Through dynamic leadership and dedicated staff and volunteers, Whaley Children’s Center will be a source of hope, care and treatment to Michigan’s abused, neglected and at-risk children and families. Services: Residential care, therapy, family services, residential school and a variety of other programs that build up life and social skills. The residential program which has three group homes and three cottages offers an intensive treatment program for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 17. All the children are provided clinical, educational and psychiatric services. Children participate in milieu groups and various recreational activities that are conducive to their growth and development. The Mott Residence is located on the main campus of Whaley Children’s Center, 1201 N. Grand Traverse St., Flint, MI 48506. It is a state of the art facility that opened in 1991, consisting of a large commercial kitchen, large meeting/conference room, family room and three self-contained cottages named McDonald, Vemco, and Johnson. Each of the cottages has single bedrooms, laundry, living room, dining room, library, and a small kitchen.
