Overview

Westbrook Winery is one of New Zealand’s oldest and most respected family-owned boutique wineries, boasting multi-award-winning wines including two stunning Chardonnays, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Gris. The Westbrook story began in Croatia in the late 1800s, with the renowned winemaking Ivicevich family, who grew grapes and made wine which they sold throughout Europe. They moved to ‘the new country’ in 1935 and established the vineyard in Oratia, initially specialising in making fortified wines. The move to producing table wines in the eighties was the right one and they were rewarded with several medals from their very first vintage in 1985. The move to the picturesque Ararimu Valley in Waimauku was made in 1999 and the winery’s reputation has continued to grow. Now with a new family at the helm, Westbrook’s skilled winemakers continue to proudly uphold this extraordinary legacy, producing iconic hand-crafted wines using a combination of time-honoured traditional and innovative techniques. Grapes are sourced from the home vineyard estate in Waimauku, as well as single vineyards in Marlborough and Hawkes Bay, widely recognised as top wine-growing regions. Westbrook wines truly reflect the incredible depth, diversity, and flavours of Aotearoa’. The winery is set in twenty acres of idyllic park-like grounds. The Cellar Door looks down over the terraces to the pretty brook-fed lily pond and across to row after row of our Waimauku vines. Our friendly Cellar Door team is on hand to share the Westbrook story, a glass of award-winning wine, and a delicious wine-matched platter or pizza. We welcome you to our place.
